Valentine’s Day comes on the Monday after the firstSunday in Lent this year, a perfect time to reflect on the ways we show our love for God through our love of neighbor. Each of the Works of Mercy—7 Corporal and 7 Spiritual Works—is represented on 14 red paper hearts. The Corporal Works are: Feed the Hungry, Clothe the Naked, Give Drink to the Thirsty, Visit the Sick, Comfort the Imprisoned, Shelter the Homeless and Bury the Dead. The Spiritual Works are: Instruct the Ignorant, Admonish the Sinner, Counsel the Doubtful, Comfort the Afflicted, Bear Wrongs Patiently, Forgive Offenses Willingly and Pray for the Living and the Dead. These hearts are a reminder not only of the depth of the human love we commemorate on Valentine’s Day, but also of Jesus’ call: “As I have loved you, so you also should love one another” (John 13:34). Orders come with sermon notes on the connection between love of God and neighbor and concrete expressions of that love. (Sold only in sets of 10 [140 hearts])
